Pioneers Of Beauty – Barry Mero

Here is the latest post in my Pioneers Of Beauty series looking at people who have shaped the beauty industry as we know it. Today’s beauty pioneer, Barry Mero, is not exactly a household name. Chances are, you have probably never even heard of him. But you have probably heard of the London based cosmetics company that bears his name – Barry M. One of my favourite budget (and cruelty free) beauty brands, Barry M are famed for their multicoloured, sparkly and reasonably priced products. When I first came across Barry M products, I honestly thought that Barry Manilow had his own makeup line. But no, the Barry M behind the company isn’t Mr. Manilow, it’s Barry Mero. Barry began his career in beauty by selling cosmetics and hair products on a market stall near his home in east London. He had an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age and quickly spotted a gap in the beauty market – colourful, trend led makeup in keeping with the outrageous goth, punk and new romantic fashions of the 80’s.

Barry M’s famous Dazzle Dust

And so in 1982, the Barry M brand was born. The first products in the Barry M range were the famous Nail Paints. Barry introduced cruelty free, quality nail polishes in bright, vivid colours that were like nothing else available at the time, all at very affordable prices. I absolutely love them and own way too many colours to count. Finely milled nail glitters, crackle effect and black nail polishes are just some of the innovative products that he has bought to the world of beauty. Far from being an obscure, cult brand, Barry M count Angelina Jolie, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham as fans. Barry M has evolved from a small, niche brand selling colourful nail polishes to a fully fledged cosmetics company offering a full range of makeup including lip glosses, eyeshadows and foundations.

Still a best seller… Black Nail Paint

A true innovator, Barry definitely deserves his place on my list as a Pioneer Of Beauty.

The Great Beauty Bake Off

Today I’m going to talk about a beauty trend which has been attracting a lot of attention in the press and on social media of late – baking. No, not that kind of baking. There’s no jam or soggy bottoms to be found here. This type of baking is of the beauty variety. A trend beloved of celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, baking is a technique that has actually been around for years in the drag community and practised by professional makeup artists. It originated as a way for performers to prevent their makeup from melting under hot stage lighting but for us mere mortals, it can help you to achieve a really flawless, wrinkle free makeup look (in theory). So what exactly is it? Read on and find out…

Just like other techniques such as highlighting, contouring and strobing, baking is another technique that can appear ridiculously complex and leave viewers of beauty tutorials scratching their heads and thinking, ‘Huh? I ain’t got time for that!’ Well, in case you have got the time, here’s how it works. Before we go any further, I must point out that despite the name, baking does not involve warming up your products in the microwave or sticking your head in an oven. So please don’t do it! The ‘baking’ process actually comes from the heat from your face. So in effect, the warmth of your skin sets (bakes) your makeup. Aaaah… Making sense now? So how do you do it?

16602926_10158100611975580_8746344640859435974_n

Translucent setting powder is used to set your products during baking

Firstly, you need to make sure that your skin is really well hydrated and moisturised (particularly under your eyes). Moisturising should be a non-negotiable part of your daily skincare routine anyway but it’s particularly important for makeup techniques like this. If your skin is dry, baking will make your skin look cakey, flakey and pretty rank in all honesty. Once you’ve ensured that your skin is moisturised and silky smooth, you can then get to work on your baking. Also make sure that you have good lighting when applying your makeup. You don’t want to do this in a dark room and then emerge looking as though an undertaker has applied your makeup. Basically all you do is apply your foundation/BB cream (or whatever base you are using). Then apply a thick splodge (that is a technical term) of concealer below your eyes in an inverted triangle shape. It doesn’t matter if the concealer is heavy – it’s meant to be. It’s best if you work your concealer using upward strokes and blend using a slightly damp blending bud or makeup sponge. You can also add concealer to any other areas of your face that you wish to appear brighter. It’s a little like highlighting but without the shimmery sparkle. If you really want to go all out, you can apply another layer of concealer. I know what you’re thinking… ‘F*ck, that’s a lot of makeup’. Yes it is and don’t worry, it’s supposed to be.

16640889_10158100610490580_3574980644344515297_n

A fan brush (centre) can be used to dust off excess powder

Once you’ve applied your concealer, blend the edges so that it is blended naturally with your foundation. With me so far? Once you have reached this step, you then apply a thick layer of loose translucent powder on top of the concealer. You can do this using a damp sponge or blending bud. You can apply more powder if you wish. You then proceed to ‘bake’ (in other words, you leave the powder and concealer to set using the warmth from your skin). Most people ‘bake’ for around ten minutes and use this time to finish the rest of their makeup. Some people take it even further and ‘bake’ for half an hour. Crikey. Once you have finished baking, you can lightly dust off and blend any excess powder if there is any using a fan brush (or any other really fluffy brush). And voila! If you have done it correctly, you should have flawless, even skin and perfectly set makeup. If you wish, you can then contour, apply blusher or whatever else you want to do to finish your look.

17457731_10155261328014470_1250837385805444045_n

Finished baked look using Younique products

Ultimately, this is not a technique you should be employing on a daily basis. Baking requires a thick layer of products which in time, will clog your pores and mess up your skin. No matter how much you may dislike your makeup free skin, it’s always a good idea to allow your skin to ‘breathe’ sometimes. So that’s how you bake. It’s not a difficult technique to master, it just takes time and practice. There are plenty of tutorials out there on YouTube showing lots of different tips and techniques, some more complex than others… But these are the basic principles of baking. Why not give it a try yourself sometime?

Autumn Inspired Makeup

Every season, I say ‘this is my favourite time of year’ and Autumn is no exception. I really love the darker evenings and being able to make my house warm and cosy with my little lamps and scented candles of pumpkin spice and gingerbread. Drinking hot chocolate with lashings of cream, cinnamon and nutmeg, wrapping up warm and walking through crunchy leaves, the smell of bonfires hanging in the air, the fun and festivities of Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night, eating warm chestnuts and toffee apples, sleeping on warm, flannel sheets… There are so many lovely things about autumn.

fall-autumn-red-season-large.jpg

I adore autumn and all of the beautiful colours associated with it

And not forgetting of course, all of the gorgeous colours of falling foliage that surround us at this time of year – rich, vibrant shades of red, yellow, orange and gold. As a natural redhead, these are not normally colours that I would choose to wear. My hair is a fairly light shade of red (almost a strawberry blonde shade) and I have pale blue eyes and so for me personally, I don’t feel that these shades are the most flattering on me! However, getting in the spirit of Autumn, I decided to have a play around with my makeup and try some colours inspired by the changing seasons.

P1090632.JPG

Today’s autumn inspired look

I have used colours from Younique’s range of Mineral Pigment Powders to create this eye makeup look, applied dry and then blended with a Sponge Brush. On my lips, I am wearing Lucrative Lip Gloss in ‘Livid’. As I said previously, they are not colours I would normally choose to wear but it’s always fun to experiment with different makeup looks and colours and you never know – you may discover something that looks amazing on you!

P1090635.JPG

These are not colours I would normally choose to wear but it’s fun to play with colour sometimes

I am also looking forward to trying out these beautiful Splurge Cream Shadows in autumnal inspired colours. These eyeshadows have a lovely, velvety smooth texture and are super luxurious so I am looking forward to adding more to my collection!

Beauty Tips For Bad Days

We all have days where we feel (and look) a little bit below par. Even the most naturally beautiful women. Days where we wish we could just hide away and not have to grace anyone with our spotty, tired looking face. Unless you’re like me and work from home, this is however not an option for the majority of people. Not to worry though. There are some ways we can cheat the appearance of looking good on a bad day, even if we woke up this morning looking far from our best.

Add some colour – The appearance of sallow looking skin can be improved by adding a hint of colour. Try using a tinted moisturiser, BB creambronzer or self tanner to add a hint of colour to a pale complexion. Finish with a hint of blusher. Don’t go too heavy though! Try to make your skin look natural with your colouring. For example I’m a redhead and naturally have pale skin and eyes. If I use bronzer, my skin just looks dirty! Tailor your makeup to your natural colouring.

maxresdefault.jpg

Add a touch of Bronzer to add some colour to your face

Concealer – Concealer is the ultimate weapon in your beauty arsenal. Blemishes, bruises, dark under eye circles, redness, scars and spots can all be covered using a good quality concealer. Dark under eye circles in particular can make a face appear tired looking. Concealer will help to lift and brighten your face. I recommend Younique’s Touch Mineral Skin Perfecting Concealer. It’s an amazing concealer that works so well, it even covers tattoos!

tumblr_nwvhtwon1N1tfesz9o1_1280

Using Younique’s Touch Mineral Skin Perfecting Concealer to cover a tattoo

Lip colour – Lip colour can draw attention away from tired looking eyes and brighten up your look.

Moisturise – Those of you who are regulars of this blog know how much I stress the importance of looking after your skin. When your skin is dehydrated your skin can look dull and appear older. Make sure that you moisturise your skin in the mornings and ensure that you are drinking enough water to keep your skin and the rest of your body healthy and hydrated. A good quality moisturiser is one of the best beauty investments you will make.

Make moisturising a daily habit

Sunburn – My nemesis. After sun exposure, if you’re suffering from sunburn take a cool shower or bath and apply a cold compress to help cool the skin. Younique’s Rosewater Toning Spritz is a soothing natural toner that works well on sunburn. It’s non-irritating, helps to reduce redness and encourages your skin to heal itself. If your skin is still red, applying a light tinted moisturiser can help to disguise it.

14642235_192792587824605_3504583840223432549_n

Rosewater can help soothe burnt skin

Tired Eyes – You really shouldn’t get in the habit of depriving yourself of sleep. However if you’re sleep deprived and have tired looking eyes, there are a couple of tricks you can use. As I mentioned before, concealer is amazing for giving tired eyes a lift. Also try curling your lashes to open up your eyes and look a bit more awake (even if you’re not!) Dark eyeliners and eyeshadows can make you appear even more tired than you already are so stick to lighter colours on those days. If all else fails – put your sunglasses on!

Younique Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palettes

Whether you use complementary or contrasting colours, eyeshadow is wonderful for bringing out the natural beauty of your eye colour. When I began my Younique makeup business, I was sent a makeup kit for new Presenters. Inside it is a huge array of samples and full sized products including the amazing 3D Fiber Lashes which Younique are best known for. But another product which I’m a big fan of which is included in the New Presenters Kit is the Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palette. If you’re a fan of the Naked Palette by Urban Decay, you will love this…

P1080318.JPG

The Younique Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palette

Younique is still a very new and relatively unknown makeup brand. Many people have heard of the brand but have never actually tried any of the products for themselves. Those who have heard of it usually think of the 3D Fiber Lashes but they also offer a comprehensive collection of high quality makeup and cosmetics, of which it’s possible to build an entire makeup kit. Younique currently offer five different Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palettes, each containing seven matte and shimmer colours. Palette 1 contains warm, neutral tones of bronze and gold, Palette 2 contains cool tones with black and silver shades, Palette 3 contains cool tones with fresh pink and purple shades and Palette 4 contains earthy browns and blues. The special, one of a kind Palette 5 offers reflective high shine metallic and prismatic colour shifting hues and is different to any other palette I have seen. The palette which I am reviewing today is Palette 1.

16115003_1425250224212066_5499304481172522317_n

There are five different palettes available

As I’ve come to expect with Younique products, the packaging for the Addiction Shadow Palette is lovely. It comes in a high quality box with a magnetic closing lid that contains a large mirror. Like the 3D Fiber Lashes, this product would make a beautiful gift. There are seven different shades, all with fun ‘mood’ names like ‘Elated’, ‘Chipper’ and ‘Zealous’. The shadows are pressed and contain a large amount of product. Due to the amount of product the palette contains and the large mirror, the palette is slightly larger than some other palettes I have come across but is still small enough to be able to store comfortably in a makeup bag or drawer.

P1080319.JPG

The palette has a magnetic lid containing a good sized mirror and seven warm, neutral shades of matte, semi-matte, pearly satin and metallic shadows

The colours in this palette are warm, neutral tones which would compliment any eye colour. Younique themselves say that the colours in all the palettes are inspired by the desert sky. The colours in Palettes 1-4 are matte, semi-matte, pearly satin and metallic so there are colours suitable for both day and evening wear. Palette 5 contains reflective metallic high shine and transforming, prismatic jewel tones which change colour (and is definitely worthy of a stand alone review which I will bring to you in the near future).

The unique colours of Palette 5

All of the different colours coordinate and compliment each other really well so you can have fun and experiment with different looks. I have very light blue eyes and I love the way darker tones of chocolate and taupe contrast with them. There are lighter highlighting and transition colours and darker colours to create a beautiful smokey eye look. Whether you use a brush or an eyeshadow applicator, the shadows go on to your eyelids velvety smooth and are really easy to blend.

Colour swatches from all five palettes

Some cheaper, lower quality pressed eyeshadows that I have tried have a tendency to drop flakes down your cheek as you apply them but that certainly isn’t the case with the shadows in this palette. The colours are buildable so ideal for wearing both during the day when you want a lighter colour and for a more intense, evening look. The colours can be applied dry for highlighting and shading or you can add a drop of water to make them more intense for outlining and contouring eyes. If you really want to intensify the colours and achieve optimum results, it can be paired with an eye primer

An eye look created using colours from Palette 1

I applied eyeshadow from this palette first thing in the morning along with my other makeup. I usually apply some translucent face powder to my eyelids before applying eyeshadow to prevent creasing but for the purposes of this review, I left them bare. Although the shadows are solid and can be built and shaded as such, they go on with a creamy smooth texture, almost like a cream shadow. Twelve hours later, the colour hadn’t creased or faded at all and still looked as fresh as when I first put it on. In actual fact, I fell asleep wearing it and it still looked good the next morning! So it’s really long-wearing!

Before and after using ‘Chipper’ from Palette 1 as a brow colour

You can even use the colours in Palette 1 for highlighting and contouring, on your eyebrows to add some colour or even on your lips! Like all Younique products, the shadows are hypoallergenic and made from natural, mineral ingredients that are gluten, paraben and carcinogen free. Younique products are also cruelty free.

Here is something different you can also do with Palette 1… Three coats of nail polish – on the third coat, paint all the nails on one hand then immediately take an eyeshadow brush (that you don’t use on your eyes lol) and while the polish is still wet/tacky, tap the eyeshadow on the tip of each nail (don’t brush it on or the nail polish will get messed up). Repeat for the other hand. Then do a clear coat and apply more eyeshadow before it dries, one hand at a time. When you tap the shadow on, it dusts onto the bottom half of the nail giving it a blended ombre look. Once that dries, apply a final coat of clear polish and that smooths out any brush marks from applying the eyeshadow!

Creating ombre nails with Palette 1

This palette is a luxurious, premium product and is not a cheap purchase. However, as a makeup investment it is definitely worth it. The packaging is gorgeous, the colours are beautiful, highly pigmented and long wearing and there is a good amount of product so it will last you a long time. Versatile and stunning, there are colours for blondes, brunettes and redheads.

Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

In my last post, I talked about the natural based, American makeup brand Younique and how I’d been so impressed with the company and it’s products. To follow on from that, as promised, I’d like to introduce you to their best selling product – the Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes (they sell over 20,000 of these a day!) This is the first Younique product that really took off and the one which most people think of when they think of Younique. It is also the first product I was introduced to in the Younique range. The UK newspaper The Sunday Times declared it ‘The World’s Best Mascara’ and it’s even been given away in goodie bags at the Golden Globe Awards. Here’s what I think of it…

P1080303

Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes. My first experience with Younique products

Younique is an American online only brand whose products are available to purchase from the website of independent representatives known as ‘Presenters’ so this is not a brand you will find on your local high street. As part of their agreement to represent the brand, Presenters are also not allowed to sell on other websites such as ebay so if you’re tempted to purchase from there – beware, your product is highly likely to be counterfeit…

P1080308.JPG

The product is beautifully packaged in a gift-like box

Like many people, when I was first introduced to the 3D Fiber Lashes, I’d never actually heard of Younique so had no idea what to expect. I’ve never been someone who is loyal to one or two brands so I tried it with an open mind. The product has patents pending and claimed to boost the thickness and volume of your lashes by up to 500% with the first coat! Not so great if you like ‘natural’ looking lashes but if like me you love the look of false lashes or lash extensions, this sounds fantastic!

P1080309.JPG

The patent pending formula can boost lash volume by up to 500% (and more if you add more layers!)

Your first impression of this product is the packaging. It comes in a beautifully designed box – almost like a gift box (it would make a great last minute gift or stocking filler), within which you will find full instructions and a handy travel sized pouch containing the product itself. Another thing that I like about the packaging are the clear viewing panes along the side of the tubes so you can see how much product you actually have left. I’ve never come across a mascara with this before so it’s a neat touch.

23KYYTN-MXL

Not false lashes – 3D Fiber Lashes

Many people refer to this product as a mascara (which given that you apply it like mascara is an accurate description) but I would say that it is more ‘brush on eyelash extensions’. It’s just like false lashes but without the glue (and much quicker to apply). The product consists of two ‘mascara’ tubes – one containing transplanting gel and the other containing the dry 3D fibres. The product is ophthalmologically approved so don’t worry, the fibres are safe and are suitable for contact lens wearers (I even poked myself in the eye once with the fibre wand and suffered no ill effects!) The only difference to applying this mascara is there are three steps involved.

P1080310.JPG

Inside the box is a handy travel pouch for keeping the tubes together in your makeup bag

Firstly, make sure your eyelashes are completely clean and free of any residue from any other mascara or cosmetic products you have been using (this is important to get the best out of this product as any grease and grime left over on your lashes mean that the product won’t adhere as well – or look as good). Apply a few coats of the transplanting gel first for the fibres to adhere to (the gel works well as a mascara on it’s own). Then apply the fibres over the top which will grab on to the transplanting gel and build volume and add length. Finally finish off with more coats of the transplanting gel to seal the fibres. So it’s actually very easy apply and not a great deal different from applying regular mascara. Keep going until you have created your desired look. You control how much or how little you apply and where which is why you see a variety of results in photos. If you’ve forgotten to curl your lashes first, you can use a hairdryer on the cool setting to curl them. Simply point your hairdryer upwards towards your lashes when the gel is still wet (hold it about 30cm from your face) and use a shot of cool air to blow your lashes upwards (it sounds mental but trust me, it actually works!)

16939641_1460286324041789_212501398032125846_n

Before and after with 3D Fiber Lashes – what a difference!

Depending on how heavily you use it and how many coats you apply, it will typically last 12-18 weeks (but like all mascaras, it should really be replaced every three months due to bacterial buildup). Another option is to apply 3D Fiber Lashes over your regular mascara. This helps to build volume and is a great way to transform your look from day to night. If you really want to make your lashes stand out for maximum impact, curl your lashes first (never curl lashes after applying product – it can break your lashes) and after applying your 3D Fiber Lashes, brush through with a lash comb while the gel is still wet.

16996436_1463620050375083_1881347657002623765_n

Loving my 3D Fiber Lashes. You can build layers until you have created your desired look

As I mentioned earlier, both parts are applied just like mascara so it’s really easy to do. A good tip is to make sure you only work on one eye at a time and don’t start your other eye until you have finished the first. Once you have finished, the difference is remarkable and your lashes look long, volumised and dramatic. Once applied, it is very long lasting (the above photo was taken 14 hours after I first applied it) with no flaking or residue. Panda eyes are never a good look! The ‘mascara’ is really easily removed with soap and water or a good quality makeup remover or facial cleanser. I have been really pleased with the results of this product and now use it as my regular mascara. I’ve tried other volumising mascaras such as Too Faced’s ‘Better Than Sex’, Benefit’s ‘They’re Real’ and Urban Decay’s ‘Perversion’ and this product beats it hands down.

P1080311.JPG

The tubes contain viewing panes so you can see how much product you have left

One of the main selling points of Younique makeup is that it’s hypoallergenic, mineral based and uses natural ingredients with no harmful chemicals, dyes or preservatives. It’s also cruelty free, vegan friendly and gluten free. Unlike many other mascaras, 3D Fiber Lashes is free of fragrance, dyes, parabens, latex, sulfates, PABA, BPA and nano-particles. There is also a 14 day money back guarantee if you don’t like the product – not many brands offer this! The gel was completely reformulated in January 2017  and contains four advanced polymers known to provide ultimate adhesion, conditioning and moisturising properties, pro-vitamin B5, known to attract and hold moisture, vitamin E known to nourish skin and hair and provide antioxidant benefits and chamomilla flower extract, known to provide antioxidant benefits. It also contains other natural ingredients such as beeswax (which is good for holding an eyelash curl and makes mascara formulas last longer), carnauba wax (which has water resistant properties and gives the gel it’s ‘stickiness’ when wet) and black iron oxide (which gives the gel it’s striking black colour).

17103263_1483803455023409_6050640895502921077_n

Another amazing result from 3D Fiber Lashes

The fibres contain nylon which dries quickly and adheres to the transplanting gel without absorbing it for smoother coating. Nylon fibres are smooth and elastic, allowing for easy application along the eyelashes and are resistant to oil. The fibres are also formulated with squalane and CoQ10, ingredients known to condition, moisturise and fortify hair and skin. This is great as so many other mascaras and eye makeup products contain harmful carcinogenic ingredients which are absorbed into your body (eek!). It also contains Younique’s ‘Uplift Serum’ to help nourish and condition your eyelashes and promote healthy lash growth and doesn’t damage your eyelashes unlike falsies. The applicator brush provides volume, separation and length while applying the right amount of gel. Rigid brush bristles are spaced evenly to help separate and lengthen lashes, while the fibres fill and add volume to lashes.

3D Fiber Lashes allow you to easily recreate the effect of false lashes and extensions

As a natural redhead, I have light blonde eyelashes so mascara is probably the most important makeup product I wear and the only one which I refuse to leave the house without (I look like I have no eyelashes without it) so the fact that this ‘mascara’ is water resistant is great. I can go swimming, exercise or go to the beach without having to take it off! If you like the false lash look then you are going to love this product. It’s beautifully packaged, contains quality, natural ingredients and really frames your eyes and makes them stand out. It is so much easier and working out at roughly 25p a day, cheaper than applying good quality false lashes or extensions (no glue, no mess, no appointments, no fuss and it won’t damage your natural lashes). I have even seen men using this product to fill in sparse beards and moustaches! It’s consistently rated one of the top mascara products out there! As I mentioned earlier in this review, Younique are an online only brand available from authorised Younique Presenters only. Ogx Argan Oil

You may recall that I recently wrote an article about argan oil and how it can benefit your hair. Following on from this article, I have recently been using argan oil products from one of the most popular brands in the UK. Here’s how I’ve been getting on with it…

I’ve been using three products from the Ogx range – Extra Strength Hydrate + Revive Argan Oil Of Morocco shampoo, the matching conditioner and Renewing Argan Oil Of Morocco Extra Penetrating Oil. Ogx products are easily available from many large retailers such as Boots and Tesco so you should have no problems finding them in shops. I have used Ogx products in the past, some of which have had fantastic results and others which haven’t really suited my hair. So I wasn’t really sure what to expect with these products.

P1080144.JPG

The products are beautifully packaged

Amongst other ingredients, all products contain argan oil (please refer to my previous article to find out more) and the shampoo and conditioner also contain silk proteins. These are known to increase hair’s elasticity and shine. So the products themselves contain good ingredients and the description on the bottle says that they will ‘intensely hydrate and lock in moisture to give hair a second chance at silky perfection’. Great! I have really dry, heat damaged hair so I need all the help I can get!

P1080187.JPG

The main active ingredients are argan oil and silk proteins

The products themselves I think are really attractively packaged. The bottles are chunky, nicely designed and have a premium feel. They are certainly the sort of product you’d be happy to display on a bathroom shelf rather than shoving in a cupboard out of embarrassment (this is what I do with my husband’s giant bottle of supermarket value shampoo!) The shampoo and conditioner themselves are a nice, pearly white colour and have a sweet smelling fragrance. Some people will love the smell but personally it wasn’t really a scent that appealed to me. The shampoo itself is quite a thick formula and is easily worked into a lather. I have long hair and even a small amount went a long way.

For me, the conditioner had a slightly more pleasant smell than the shampoo. The formula is quite runny and slightly more ‘watery’ feeling than other conditioners that I have recently used. However, after rinsing it out  I could feel a big difference. Even when wet, my hair felt really smooth. The final step was to use the Extra Penetrating Oil before blow drying. Again, like the other products in the range it is beautifully packaged. Before blow drying, you apply a small amount to the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. It is quite a rich oil and a small amount goes a long way.

After blow drying, I was really impressed at how soft and silky my hair felt. My hair is fine but has quite a wiry texture, almost like fine fishing line so it was definitely a big improvement. It didn’t leave my hair greasy like some hair serums and it added a nice shine. You can also use the oil on dry hair too to lock in moisture.

Like the other products in the range, the oil has lovely packaging

After using all three products together for several weeks now, I am really pleased with the results. Other Ogx products that I have used haven’t really been suitable for my hair and I’ve been a bit disappointed with the results but definitely not this time. My hair is soft, shiny and silky and that’s what we’d all like our hair to be isn’t it? The products are not the cheapest out there but they contain quality ingredients and a small amount goes a long way so although expensive compared to some other high street brands, I think they are good value for money and worth trying (sometimes Ogx products are available together in multi-buy offers so keep an eye out for those).

Until next time, stay beautiful x
